PLANS to close a budy Kilwinning road for £280,000 worth of resurfacing works have been shelved.
Scotland TranServ were set to deliver a programme of works on the A738 from Dalry Road to McLuckie Drive commencing today (Friday, October 14).
Over £280,000 will be invested by Transport Scotland in resurfacing the route, which is used by almost 10,000 vehicles each day.
But the work has been postponed due to forecasted bad weather for the weekend.
A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately due to the weather forecast of prolonged heavy rain for Saturday and Sunday the works scheduled to take place on the A738 Dalry Road to McLuckie Drive this weekend have been postponed until further notice.
"Advanced notification and a revised construction date will be issued in due course when works are due to be rescheduled."
A full road closure was due to be in place over one weekend with 24 hour working from 8pm on Friday, October 14 until 6am on Monday, October 17.
