AN ARDROSSAN man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after assaulting another male at Kilwinning train station.

Daniel McCartney, 29, will have to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work in the community as part of a community payback order.

The sentence was passed down to the Ardrossan man, of the town's Glasgow Road, after he pled guilty to the assault which took place on April 8 of 2022.

Court papers describing the incident detailed how McCartney punched the victim on the head, which caused him to lose his balance.

The 29-year-old has been given six months to complete the court order.
