An Irvine man has been giving a chance to prove himself after he admitted assaulting another man in Stevenston.
Martin Graham, 23, of Heatherstane Way, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where the court heard he was at an address in Stevenston’s Reid’s Avenue after he had been out drinking and a discussion took place regarding text messages and Graham had said that he wanted £20 back from the victim.
An argument began between the parties and Graham picked up a can of lager and threw it.
It missed the other man but he then challenged him to fight and punched him to the head.
His victim was left with bruising to the cheekbone and police were contacted.
Procurator Fiscal Depute Stuart McMillan said that the victim was shaken and upset and that Graham made full admissions to police.
Colin McLaughlin, defending, said that his client has been out of work and drink had been taken over the preceding days.
Sheriff David Hall deferred sentence on Graham for six months for him to be of good behaviour and said: “It’s in your interests to stay out of trouble.”
He will return to court in July for sentencing.
