A VITAL Irvine charity have been given a Christmas cash boost.

Irvine & Troon Cancer Care recently received a fantastic £1,000 donation from kind-hearted members of Woodlands Senior Citizens Club.

The club had held a number of fundraising events for the charity which has provided free transport to cancer patients since 1987 for lifesaving treatment.

Last Saturday, Woodlands Senior Citizens Club Chair, Catherine Maltby, along with members Mary Burwood and Susan Moir handed over the £1,000 to Irvine & Troon Cancer Care Chairman Andy Slater and Treasurer Jean Moir.

Andy said: “I’d like to thank Catherine and all the Woodlands Senior Citizens for the great support they have given us.

“This money will go a long way to help us to continue with the on-going work of helping cancer patients in our community.”

Irvine & Troon Cancer Care are run entirely by volunteers and any funds they receive goes directly to patient care.

The service is available for anyone in our area to use and cover the following - Irvine, Dreghorn, Springside, Drybridge, Dundonald, Loans, Barassie and Troon.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact them on 01294 311887.
