THE ever-popular Kilwinning Fireworks Display will be back with a bang next month and it promises to be a fantastic night.

Entertainment will start from 5.30pm with local singers, fire acts, and balloon art free for all kids.

There will also be kids rides, vintage fire engines, hot food and charity stalls.

The full 18 minute display is scheduled for 7pm so please plan to arrive well before this preferably on foot as traffic will be very busy.

THE DO’S: bring a torch, come warmly dressed and a donation for the bucket collection on entry and make sure children have your contact details.

THE DONT’S: no DIY fireworks or sparklers, no pets, no glass bottles or alcohol. Random searching on entry will be carried out.

Kilwinning Community Events organise the fireworks and operates purely on donations, in kind support and volunteers. The buckets at the gates are an essential aspect of their fundraising.

You can also donate at 1st Alliance Credit Union office.

Organiser Donald Reid said: “We would encourage all visitors to the fireworks event at McGavin Park to walk where possible. We warn all motorists to expect delays prior to the event and afterwards especially on Dalry Road, where from 7.20-8pm you can expect to be static or delayed while police deal with exceptional pedestrian movement in the area.

“Please use the town centre and station car parks and use the safe walking routes to the event.

“Town centre car parks:  use the pedestrian crossing and walk down the Woodwynd then use the school footpath bringing you out right at the park gates.

“Station: use the path at side Taylor’s to Claremont Crescent.

“Using these car parks will allow a quick departure after the event.”

“Abbey School Car Park will have parking on a first come basis. Expect this car park to be very busy and arrive early to park here prior to 6.30pm following the marshals’ instructions.

“At departure expect long delays and turn right on leaving the car parks and proceed onto Byres Road.

"There will be 30 disabled Blue Badge parking spaces available, only where Blue Badge holders are in the car, at Kilwinning Academy Car Park. Have your badge on display prior to arrival and plan to arrive prior to 6.30pm.”

“Expect a significant delay to leave this car park as the road will be closed for a short time due to pedestrian movement.

Residents in the following streets will all have Residents Pass Holders only checkpoints in place: Park Lane, Groatholm Way, The Meadows, Ladyacre, Northacre.

There will be no on street parking on any of these streets plus additionally Beechwood, Dalry Road, Old Woodwynd, Baird Ave and Woodside access Road.
