A MAN has been hospitalised after being struck by a bin lorry in Irvine.
Police have confirmed that the incident took place at around midday today (Friday, September 16) at the Shewalton Industrial Estate.
The full circumstances of the incident are still being determined and the man was rushed to Crosshouse Hosptial to be treated for his injuries.
A spokesperson for North Ayrshire Council said an investigation would be launched.
They said: “We can confirm that one of our employees was taken to Crosshouse Hospital following an incident at Shewalton Industrial Estate on Friday morning.
“We will be launching an investigation to determine exactly what happened and won’t be making any further comment at this stage.”
