THREE friends from Irvine with a passion for film-making will realise a lifelong dream as they get set to take their vision to the big screen.

Sean Sweeney, Craig McKenzie and Stacey Keen have taken their company, Meadowpark Pictures, from strength to strength after its’ founding four years ago and are now preparing to put a new feature film into production.

‘A Letter to Molly’ tells the tale of four friends coming together to relive their youth, when old grievances and an increasingly bizarre series of events conspire to fracture their friendship for good.

The group deal with chemical spills, psychotic anarchists, and faceless corporate forces through a haze of booze and drugs as their home town is placed on lockdown and their night spirals violently out of control.

The film is a darkly comic tale of modern horrors, taking audiences on an absurd and claustrophobic trip that will stick in the mind.

Over the course of three years, the company have enlisted the help of artists from a broad spectrum of backgrounds.

Several supporters of the project have injected thousands of pounds of their own money to get the film this far, with some generous donations from friends and family.

Currently, a crowdfunding page is live to try and raise enough to really make the film the way that Sean and Stacey would like to see it made.

Stacey was born in Zimbabwe and moved to Irvine during her primary education.

During her time at Irvine Royal Academy, she became heavily involved in the art department and went on to study at the Glasgow School of Art.

As Production Designer for Meadowpark Pictures, Stacey’s role is to oversee all the design work for projects.

Working closely with the make-up, costume, special effects and camera departments to create a relevant and innovative look for our films that serves the stories we are telling.

With a background in textile design and a love of costume, hand crafts and Papier-mâché, she is often the first person to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty creating the art that appears on-screen.

Meanwhile, Sean was born and raised in Irvine, meeting Stacey as a teenager at Irvine Royal Academy.

He went onto study Journalism and Social Sciences at college, later gaining his journalism degree from the University of the West of Scotland.

His background and general interest in politics and history lends a satirical edge to his narrative writing.

A lifelong love of film meant that the transition to screenwriting was a natural progression.

Sean is responsible for writing and overseeing writing on projects, informing the tone for much of the work.

Sean is currently writing a crime caper set in Irvine that is planned to be made after A Letter to Molly.

Meadowpark Procutions need the skills of writers, producers, directors, editors, designers, musicians, technicians, artists and a multitude of other talented people that are essential in the planning and production of a film.

As a result, they believe in a profit structure that does not place the weight of monetary return from the top down.

After paying the bills and returning any investment offered by funding partners, the company takes 10 per cent net profit in order to keep running.

Fifty per cent of remaining net profit goes to the crew, which is split equally.

The remaining 50 per cent goes to the cast, who are tiered as primary cast, supporting cast, and extras, and who receive a cut accordingly.
